We have formed this organization, developed workshops and a website with you, a single parent, in mind. eSingleParent understands that long-term self-reliance is achieved through education. Whether you are interested in pursuing a GED, starting or returning to school to complete a degree, or want to enroll in a career/technical program, we are here to assist you in achieving your educational goals. We invite you to and promise that by exploring ‘your’ website, and attending the workshop series, you will be well-prepared for a successful educational journey.
eSingleParent is ‘the place’ to get the best information about starting or returning to school. Single parents attending the No Regrets! Workshop will gain information about and be connected to free online career exploration assessments; understand how to finance their education or training program; and be connected to valuable campus programs and services. A Financial Aid workshop: Finding Money for College, will provide answers to questions about federal financial aid, what it is, who can get it, and how to get it. Assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at the workshop. Participants attending the Scholarship Workshop: Finding More Money for College, will learn where to search for scholarships, how to get valuable letters of recommendation, how to write compelling personal essays, and why it is important to develop timelines to meet application deadlines.
For single parents who are considering starting or returning to school, it is usually an overwhelming and scary time. Many are uncertain of where or how to begin, or how to finance higher education. By attending the workshop series, single parents will be connected to helpful campus and community resources, which will assist them in being successful students through completion of their program.
If you are a single parent merely looking for resources, or an agency looking for single parent resources, a ‘Resource Directory’ is included on the website to connect you to useful community resources.
